First Day of School

I absolutely love the start of a new school year. I love buying the new school clothes and school supplies. It makes me very happy. I have never been so happy to have school start as I am right now. The kids seem to have been together too much this summer because they have been fighting nonstop for the last week.

Jacob is in the 4th grade and has Mrs. West. We were told she is quite strict. Hopefully Jacob will learn to focus a little more this year. Jacob was able to pick his own seat, he choose the front row right next to his teacher. Jacob has also signed up for an after school program, ballroom. We are hoping Krista will be able to be his instructor. He's quite nervous about learning to dance. We're trying to talk some of his friends into going.

Amara is in the 2nd grade and has Mrs. Casey. She is new to the school so we don't know what to expect. Amara loves to learn and usual is a teacher's pet. She was very excited to get back to school so she could wear all her new clothes (notice the sparkly pink shoes - Keira has the same ones for ner first day of preschool.) and to play with her friends. Amara wishes more anything that she could take ballroom too (and so does Ethan).

Ethan went into the school on the first day to do his kindergarten assessment. He did pretty good and loved the classroom and playground. He even got to help his teacher put together some school supplies. He starts on the 30th and Keira starts preschool on the 6th. More first day of school posts to come in the following weeks. Happy new school year to everyone. May we all learn something new.

  1. I always loved school shopping too. It was like preparing for a new beginning. The kids are growing up so quickly.

  2. School is good because it gives the kids something to do, gives them structure. But, it seems like a lot of work for the parents too. Dropping off and picking up, doing homework, and having to deal with complainers. Okay, maybe your kids don't complain about school, but I remember a lot of complaining in the Derington house when I was a kid.
