First Day of School

I absolutely love the start of a new school year. I love buying the new school clothes and school supplies. It makes me very happy. I have never been so happy to have school start as I am right now. The kids seem to have been together too much this summer because they have been fighting nonstop for the last week.

Jacob is in the 4th grade and has Mrs. West. We were told she is quite strict. Hopefully Jacob will learn to focus a little more this year. Jacob was able to pick his own seat, he choose the front row right next to his teacher. Jacob has also signed up for an after school program, ballroom. We are hoping Krista will be able to be his instructor. He's quite nervous about learning to dance. We're trying to talk some of his friends into going.

Amara is in the 2nd grade and has Mrs. Casey. She is new to the school so we don't know what to expect. Amara loves to learn and usual is a teacher's pet. She was very excited to get back to school so she could wear all her new clothes (notice the sparkly pink shoes - Keira has the same ones for ner first day of preschool.) and to play with her friends. Amara wishes more anything that she could take ballroom too (and so does Ethan).

Ethan went into the school on the first day to do his kindergarten assessment. He did pretty good and loved the classroom and playground. He even got to help his teacher put together some school supplies. He starts on the 30th and Keira starts preschool on the 6th. More first day of school posts to come in the following weeks. Happy new school year to everyone. May we all learn something new.

Soren's Blessing

So things have been VERY busy for me lately, so all my posts are going to have to be a little post dated for a while.

Soren's Blessing

Soren was blessed on Friday, August 12 because it was the only day we could have the max number of family members attend. My sister and parents are visiting for Education week, it is nice to actually have any of my family here. Jake gave a beautiful blessing and Soren was wide awake but quite the whole time. The perfect baby. The party afterwards was really nice, but we did end up runnung out of food (I'll have to plan better for the next party-Amara's baptism), but there was plenty of dessert. Unfortuneately we forgot to get out our camera and take pictures of the guests but we did get some afterwards.

Nearing the end of the party I snuck out to find out the kids teachers for the new school year. (I only got 1 of the teachers I wanted. Oh well, hopefully the school year will be great anyway and the kids will like their teachers.

Tomatoes from Heaven

Last spring Jake and I planted a salsa garden - 8 tomato plants, 4 pepper plants and 4 bell peppers. In the fall when it all came ripe for the picking I was 2 months pregnant and was too sick to go out and pick them and Jake didn't want to do it either. So the tomatoes rotted on the vine right where they were. Winter came and went and then spring came and went and I had Soren. Too busy with the new baby no garden got planted this spring/summer.

Last Friday Jake and I were out doing yard work. Jake mowed the lawn and I pulled weeds. I was pulling weeds from the "garden" and I noticed that not everything in the garden was weeds, there actually were plants - tomato plants. After pulling all the weeds from around the tomato plants I discovered I have 5 plants ready to start growing tomatoes.

I guess there will be salsa this year after all.
